Secondary 2 OBS camp - Day one - Part two

We had our lunch at a canteen called 'The Good Earth'. They had made fried rice for our lunch. After sastifying our stomaches, we took a group photo at a place called the 'galaxy'. Then, Jill brought us to a hut and taught us how to do 'belaying' and I volunteered to be demonstrated. By that time, I had known most of my watch mates and had made friends with them. Jill said that we will be doing the belaying on the high elements the next day.
After learning those belaying skills, we went to a high elements which does not require the belaying skills. Hafiz, a chinese muslim boy who has been appointed as leader of the Scorpius watch went up the high element first and completed it succesfully. When it is my turn up there, i was shaking a lot until the whole wire where I am standing start to shake furiously. It was very embarassing as other watches were also looking at me.(and laughing!)
Then, Jill asked us to rest for a few minutes before going to collect stuffs to be brought to Pulau Ubin the next day. I had to repack all my clothings into OBS backpack!(Not exactly all. I left some of it back in my baggage to reduce space.) Then, we meet back our instructor at the planeterium.(Did I say that the whole campsite is named after 'things' in the universe?According to Jill, East Coast campsite is actually used for observing space using telescope.) Jill then brought us to a place to continue with the activities scheduled.
Jill then told us that we are doing 'tunnel' whereby we were divided into groups of 3 to go through the tunnel. When we were inside the tunnel, I lead my group using a light source given. At first, we can't find our way through but with perseverance, we managed to proceed to the next stage. the place was dark and gloomy but with courage in our hearts, we ventured through the tunnel. That is when I tripped over lots of small inflatable balls. My 2 friends behind me were shouting at me to not to lose the light source fortunately, we managed to proceed to the next stage. After 15 mins of hot air, we managed to reach the exit. But we have to solve the code there. But the problem is, we got the wrong code and we will be stuck in the tunnel!!! Just when all hope seems lost, the exit opened.
It was Jill who opened the door thankfully. . After waitting for the other groups, we went back to the compass where we start to pitch our tents. It took us quite a long time to pitch and by the time we are done, it was already dinner time. After the dinner, we went back to the tent to start to sleep when the fire alarm sound. It was just a fire drill but it took 7mins for all of us to gather at the Galaxy. Then we we went back to our tents. The next day, we will be visitting Pulau Ubin!!!!

Secondary 2 OBS camp - Day one - Part one

On 18th May 2009, I went to school bringing a packed baggage and a small bag strapped behind my back. I thought I was the only one bringing baggage but when I reach Jurongville Secondary School, majority of the students going for OBS 4 day camp brought baggage than backpack. I was so relief because I thought I would be very embarassed if i'm the only one bringing baggage. Some of my friends even bring luggage thinking we are going on a tour!
We had our normal assembly in the parade square and after that my class, 2B, went to the hall to conduct the temperature taking. After that, me and my friend, Xu Wei, got punished for not bringing a consent form by doing 10 pumpings!
Then, Mr Seow, our form teacher assigned us to our groups or 'watch' following the OBS traditions which started about 40 years back! I've been hoping to get the same 'watch' as some of my good friends from 2B but I was unlucky. I was assigned to 'watch' 14 which is later known as SCORPIUS. Only a girl called Afiqah from my class was in my 'watch' and this is very unexpected and i don't want this to happen!
Later on, the whole of Secondary 2 Express and Normal assembled neatly in columms in the parade square. That's where I get to see the rest of my 'watch' members which is a total of 13 people including myself.
After listening to our vice-principal telling us about his 21-day course in OBS, we went to the busses. There were about 5 busses there, 3 'watches' per bus. Watch 13, 14, and 15 were the last to board the busses.
We arrived at OBS East Coast Campus after the relaxing half hour ride in the cooling bus. We assembles at a place called the Planetarium. We get into our 'watch' and assembled there. That is when all the OBS instructors were introduced.
My instructor was called Jill. It is very easy to memorized the name as we can relate her name to the song 'Jack and Jill' At first, I thought Jill is a very plain and boring instructor by looking at her face. But eventually, after getting to know each other at a place called 'Compass' me and the rest of my watch realize that she is very cool and caring. Blah Blah Blah. . .
